Why is there a Bicester Green Deal?

Cherwell District Council is promoting the Green Deal in Bicester because the scheme can:

  • save money for households by cutting their energy bills
  • create a network of local Green Deal assessors and installers, boosting the local economy and jobs.  Cherwell District Council is working with the USEA (United Sustainable Energy Agency) and other councils to set up a Community Interest Company, Green Deal Together, to act as your local green deal provider.  If you are a householder looking into the Green Deal, or interested in being a Green Deal installer or assessor, see www.greendealtogether.org.uk.
  • cut emissions of greenhouse gases that are changing the earth’s climate

We have secured funding from the government’s Department of Energy and Climate Change to help us run this promotion.  One hundred homes have had a free Green Deal assessment and 14 homes and two Bicester-based businesses will receive a free Green Deal package.

These 14 homes and two businesses will then showcase the Green Deal and energy saving upgrades to people and businesses in Bicester.
